Vintage Mechanical Brass Fire Alarm School Gong / Boxing Ring Bell

Vintage, 8 inch Mechanical Trip Bell (circa 1920's). The history of this bell is unknown but was found at an estate up near the U. The mounting plate is made of cast iron and is unmarked, the bell is brass, as are the trip and striker arms. The striker mallet head is made from hardwood and the acorn nut that secures the bell to the mounting plate is solid brass. Vintage pull chain is included. As you can see, the bell has a wonderful patina finish, original, as found but can easily be polished to bring back a shiny bright, brass finish. When the trip arm is activated, the striker head hits the bell producing a very loud ring tone that resonates (sings) beautifully. These types of bells have many signaling applications, such as sporting events (boxing), fire alarms, etc. This bell is in excellent working condition and ready to be put back in service.
